The Hourglass Effect blends Southern roots with rock and blues into a lush collection of feel-good tunes by songwriter Drew Brashear and multi-instrumentalist David Hardman featuring Erin Fox-Clough on vocals.

Drew Brashear

SONGWRITER

Bio

I grew up a competitive swimmer. I taught myself how to play guitar one string at a time laying around in the evenings after practice. I never had any formal lessons so everything that I ever played has been original stuff. I was a member of a couple of punk rock bands in high school and continued writing songs on my acoustic guitar in college. For a few years after college, I played open mic nights around town. Then, I devoted myself to the sport of triathlons for 20 years. Guitar was always a part of my life during this triathlon focus too – a nice outlet from the stress of life.

Erin and I met in a parking lot! I looked over and saw her. All of her car doors were open. She had two guitars and a bunch of notebooks in hand. We struck up a conversation and I helped her carry her stuff up to her lesson with Dave. The rest is history. Such a lucky moment to have been able to meet her and Dave. The Hourglass Effect is a sum of many parts. I am so thankful for the great team that has been assembled to bring these songs to life.

Dave Hardman

MAESTRO OF MUSIC

Bio

Originally hailing from Washington DC, Dave has circled the globe from his humble roots in DC through Sweden, England, Denmark, Switzerland, Canada, Nashville before finally landing in Charlotte, NC. Along the way he has written many songs including one that made it to the radio and has produced not only his own recordings but has produced for many other artists. Dave thrives off of the creative process. Producing The Hourglass Effect has been the culmination of his musical travels and the experience he has garnered along the way.

Brainchild of songwriter and musician Drew Brashear, The Hourglass Effect is a lush musical project  in collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Dave Hardman and vocalist Erin Fox-Clough. Released in 2021, the band’s eponymous debut album, The Hourglass Effect is a colorful riot of soulful rock n roll.

Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, the group align Southern roots with rock to create unforgettable feel-good tunes, underpinned by a bluesy soul. Merging diverse influences like Neil Young, Fugazi and Lana Del Rey, together they create intoxicating songs that are emotive, expansive and unapologetically North Carolinian.

Tracks like the soaring But Anyways, brooding Man on the Moon and upbeat Crazy (Feels So Good), showcase Erin’s uplifting, soulful vocals and the band’s masterful way of marrying genres and sounds.

The band have picked up radio play from stations across the USA like Star Intl 99.9 FM, Kiss FM 102.5 and Radio Power 77.7FM. While track But Anyways has gained extensive airplay across Latin America’s top Radio Para Llevar stations.

The Hourglass Effect came about from a serendipitous meeting in a parking lot.

Spotting flame-haired singer Erin clutching a guitar heading to a recording studio, songwriter Drew struck up conversation. It just so happened that Dave was her music teacher at the studio, and together, the three bonded over their shared vision for Drew’s incredible songs.

As soon as Drew heard Erin sing, he began to write with her passionate, arresting voice in mind.

The project itself is the culmination of three distinctly unique artists’ journeys. Drew, Dave and Erin all bring their own individual stories and feelings to The Hourglass Effect.

Collectively, The Hourglass Effect is all about harnessing and elevating local talent. Working as an ensemble with other musicians, dancers, producers and videographers they’ve filmed music videos for many tracks on their album. Capturing the essence and soul of Charlotte, the videos are a joyful celebration of the city.

As the band’s future unfolds, they plan to continue to source and rotate regional talent to expand the Hourglass Effect universe.

Kelvin C. Eatman

VIDEOGRAPHER

Bio

I, Kelvin C. Eatman, was born in Paterson, NJ to loving and caring parents. Albeit times were difficult, I never felt alone on this journey of life. Through the grace of an efficient Omni-present God, I am now walking in my calling of being a content creator for major brands and labels.

Adversity was upon me since elementary school. I had a defeated attitude, thus my thesis in life corresponded with my defeated purpose. I wanted better in life but all I received was trials and heartache. I was a very dark, cynical, and blatantly naive young man who only wanted the finer things in life. My book shows you some of the traps I fell into journeying on to find a nesting place. I put all of my hope in futile and feeble sources which led to my mental degeneration.

I would like to personally thank my brother Curtis M. Eatman and Dequam Fields for being the pillars of this journey called life. Their presence brought me through some difficult stages of life and I can now say with all of my heart thank you. I would like to acknowledge those who support me in all of my endeavors as well.

Andrew

DRUMMER

Bio

I grew up around music when I was young, and got started playing drums by the age of 5. I taught myself how to play and had some on-and-off lessons later on down the road. I was always jamming with someone and eventually playing out with friends at bars here and there, playing in several bands. I’ve been performing more consistently these past couple years and working on this project. I love doing this kind of stuff more than anything and hope to keep doing it for years to come.
